While this was going on I opened the Win 7 system utility and watched the memory usage.

I opened NX2 and ran the same batch, converting 91 NEF files to jpeg. Even though the download site says NX2 is compatible with Windows 7 64 bit, that doesn't last along and it still crashes. NOt even beta updates or any indication whatsoever. There have been no updates for a long time. NIkon does not seem to be addressing the crashing/slowness problems in any updates. Perhaps not the best but much less frustrating. In the future, I would not purchase it again but instead focus on using ACR. I have tried NOT caching any files at all too. I have followed all recommendations I have read in books. I had used Windows compatibility trouble shooter, to run NX2 in XP mode service pak 2 and 3. Sometimes I have done a whole bunch of editing, the image looks great and then the program crashes. I have version 2.2.4 and Windows 7 64 bit and 8 GIG's etc etc etc. I don't understand how mike_nz can not be having any problems. When I started ver 2.2 is when the big problems started. It's kind of weird because the trial NX2 ver 2.0 seemed to be fairly stable. I will play with this but for serious work I will go elsewhere. It's really to bad because NX2 seems to do the best job with the NEF files. If I use only for raw conversion and then convert the raw into tiff or jpeg for use in another editor that seems to work ok as long as I only convert raw to tiff/jpeg a few at a time.
